The cacao bean is the fruit of the evergreen tree cacao tree of the Sycamore family, the flat seed of the oval nut, containing 53% to 58% oil, and the extracted cocoa butter has a unique flavor and melting property.
Cocoa butter is the natural cooking oil extracted from the cocoa bean in the process of making chocolate and cocoa powder. It has only a faint taste and aroma of chocolate and is one of the materials for making real chocolate. Candies commonly known as white chocolate are made from it alone. Cocoa butter has a melting point of about 34-38 degrees Celsius (93-100 degrees Fahrenheit), so chocolate is solid at room temperature but melts quickly in the mouth.
Cocoa butter is the most stable cooking oil known and contains natural antioxidants that prevent spoilage, allowing it to be stored for two to five years. Due to its antioxidant effect, it can be used for purposes other than food. Because of its lubricated texture and sweet smell, many cosmetics and skin care products use it as a raw material. It is said to have anti-wrinkle moisturizing properties to smooth the skin, as well as enhancing the effect of suntan skin and covering scars. It is also used as a lubricant for anal medicine.
