Castor seeds have a high oil content, and because of the different uses of oil, the methods of taking oil are also different.
Medicinal: castor oil is cold pressed with a hydraulic press, the temperature does not exceed 50 degrees Celsius, otherwise some impurities will dissolve into the oil and cannot be used for medicinal purposes. The cold pressed oil is called castor oil No. 1. The cake is crushed and then pressed or leached again to produce No. 3 castor oil (no. 2).
For industrial use: The castor oil obtained by direct pressing with the screw oil press, or by pre-pressing – leaching can only be used as industrial oil. Usually, mechanical pressing can only obtain about 45% of the oil in castor seeds, and the remaining oil needs to be extracted with organic solvents
The refining process of castor oil equipment is mainly to use sodium hydroxide alkali refining oil to neutralize the free acid in the crude oil, wash the crude oil after continuous alkali refining with boiling water, vacuum dehydration, and then decolorize with acidic clay and activated carbon, and finally filter to obtain the finished oil.
